Did anyone look at the symptoms of swine flu verses the regular flu?

   Bird flu, swine flue, elephant flu, zebra flu, whatever you want to call it, it all ends with flu. What exactly is your point? What’s a hoax? Enough with your pathetic conspiracy theories. People are getting sick and some of them have already died. Really.. just stop.

   Actually, the mix of symptoms is somewhat different. H1N1 has nothing to do with pigs, and is misnamed Swine flu. It’s no hoax, it’s real, I am a doctor, and it does kill. Most people just feel bad, sorta like the regular flu, but no diarrhea/cramping in the gut. Plus headaches, whereas seasonal flu usually no headaches. I also got the Swine flu. Two weeks of misery. No shot available. Wish the shot was available.

   The only hoax I see is that the bastards couldn’t get the swine flu in with the regular flu “in time”. How convenient! Then everyone had to run out and pay DOUBLE the usual $30 times TWO SHOTS!

   How are swine flue symptoms different from seasonal flu symptoms?

   Whether a person has typical seasonal flu or swine flu, the symptoms seem to be quite similar. Flu symptoms are usually more severe than cold symptoms and come on quickly. Symptoms of swine flu and seasonal flu include sore throat, fever, headache, muscle aches and soreness, congestion, and cough. Swine flu in particular is also associated with vomiting and diarrhea.

   Most flu symptoms gradually improve over two to five days, but it’s not uncommon to feel run down for a week or more.    Just like cold viruses, flu viruses enter your body through the mucous membranes of your nose, eyes, or mouth. Every time you touch your hand to one of these areas, you could be infecting yourself with a virus, which makes it very important to keep your hands germ-free with frequent washing to prevent both flu and cold symptoms.

   How do you know if you have flu or cold symptoms? Take your temperature, say many experts. Whether it’s seasonal or swine influenza, the symptoms often mimic cold symptoms with nasal congestion, cough, aches, and malaise. But a common cold rarely has symptoms of fever above 101 degrees F. With flu symptoms, you will probably have a fever initially with the flu virus and you will feel miserable. Body and muscle aches are also more common with the flu. This table can help determine if you have cold or flu symptoms.

   Yes of course symptoms are more a less the same as seasonal flu, why? Because H1N1 is…wait for it….FLU!
   It’s another strain of the flu virus- influenza A. The severity is often worse with Influ A.
   Pandemic flu usually has an initial outbreak in the summer (which we have seen) and then returns in the winter time, possibly in a more virulent form- which we may be seeing now.

   If you look back through history, we tend to get a pandemic every 30-40 years or so, this was expected. Influenza A is more of a risk to health than influenza B, although some studies have shown that influenza A may be less of a threat respiratory-wise, not sure about that though, I think pandemic flu causes more instances of respiratory distress syndrome than influ B. I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

   Sir, may I ask, are you in the USA? You see the problem is, you and I have a huge divide. I am in the UK, our health care system is very different here, it is less money orientated. Whilst I accept there are issues with the health care system in the USA, I cannot accept that ALL Doctors are motivated by money.

   My father is actually American and a Doctor, I lived in the US for awhile, I know there are problems.

   But you cannot tar all Doctors with the same brush, the vast majority of Doctors (anywhere in the world) entered medicine for the correct reasons.

   Seriously? Is it just any excuse for a conspiracy? What possible reason is there for anyone to lie and say there is a new type of flu? So that the government have to spend money on treatments and preventatives IN A RECESSION? So that they have to let people take time off work to try and stop an epidemic? That wont help with the economy either. And how did they get the government and scientists all across the world to keep this secret? If you looked at the two under a microscope, you would see it is different.

   H1N1 (not swine flu) has the same symptoms as the “regular” flu because they’re both flu viruses. H1N1, being a flu virus, is also prevalent at the time of the year as the regular flu season. You know why? Because it’s a type of flu.

   Yes, it’s a strain of influenza. Were you not paying attention? Influenza constantly mutates, which is why we don’t have a cure, and why the vaccine has to be changed every year to fight the particular strains that are going around.

   This year, in addition to the normal seasonal flu, we had the added wrinkle of a new strain, H1N1 to deal with.

   D’uh.
   Stupidity can’t be helped, but willfull ignorance is unforgivable.

   Your wild claims may end up killing someone, H1N1 is not a hoax. You need to stop being so offensive and moronic. You are not doing alternative medicine any favors – rather giving skeptics more ammunition.

   WE HAVE SWINE FLU HERE IN AUSTRALIA AND IT IS NOT OUR FLU SEASON. OK?
