The H1N1 flu is more deadly and harmful for certain groups w/in the population moreso than the season type of virus. I don’t think it’s as raging as the seasonal, although at this point of the year, H1N1 outdoes seasonal by far.
It looks like your really on a roll, I’m still waiting for your facts not some crap you picked up on the ‘Net from one person that has a cloudy background like you.
While seasonal flu does take lives, with this H1N1 virus added to the flu, it will be taking many more if precautions are not taken individually. I would rather be ill from any flu shot than die from the flu and yes I have done extensive research on this H1N1 flu and its vaccine. My grand-daughter will also be receiving the vaccine and we both have also had our seasonal flu shots…..Personally, I choose not to be responsible for the spreading of these germs or any deaths that may occur of anyone I have come in contact with. I chose not to remain in ignorance and apathy…. Side effects are far better than going to funerals…. One death from this H1N1 virus has already been one to many.. Take care
The new H1N1 strain has been around for about 7 months. This flu season is the first time we have seen widespread distribution of the virus.
First, nobody in their right mind can make a claim to which strain kills more in a season because we haven’t had full season of H1N1 yet. The uncertainty about where this is going combined with what we have seen so far is what causes the most concern.
Second, we do know the mortality rate with 2009 H1N1 is about 0.1 %, which would be on par with a very severe year of seasonal flu.
Third we know that younger people tend to have no pre-existing immunity against any similar strain of H1N1 virus, which means this virus will continue to hit young people very hard for at least the rest of this season.
Fourth, I’ve had the live attenuated H1N1 vaccine and I know many people who have. I am aware of several hundred people I work with who have had it and there have been no reports of side effects, no family members getting sick. Just like with any flumist vaccine.
I would rather get immunity from a mild strain of the virus that have to go through what I’ve seen some of our hospitalized patients go through. And I hope like hell that it’s available soon enough that my kids can get the vaccine before they pick this virus up in the community.
My whole family got the flu mist and none of us got sick from it. Fluscam.com makes me sick though: an obviously uninformed charlatan trying to capitalize on swine flu paranoia to sell herbal remedies? Come on, man.
